It is day six of our lockdown in South Africa and it is really getting under my nerves. I started with a great attitude, a perfect routine and I even had the meals worked out to the tee.
Then, humanity kicked in and my rebel personality demanded a tantrum of note. Why now? Why do we have to behave? I am just gaining momentum and now I need to slow down! I don’t want this, I need to see and feel people!
I am not built for this.
Sounds familiar? Of course, it does. Entrepreneurs are made to move, to hustle, to create opportunities and to excel into success.
As a master life coach and entrepreneur, I know what needs to be done, but it stays challenging to focus on the positives and not get engulfed with all the negativity, the doom, and gloom. This is the time to set new rules and conquer the challenge as gladiators.
It is in moments like these where we need to be disciplined and set ourselves up for happiness and success.
It is a lot easier than you think.
As entrepreneurs, we are exposed to challenges daily. We juggle between CEO, the cleaner, the therapist and the marketeer feeling like a chameleon impressing our audience with the beauty of our transformation.
Lockdown is no different than being the chameleon, giving the performance of its life.
It is in these compulsory moments that successful entrepreneurs rise from the ashes and create a new stream of possibilities and prepare for the future.
Let us take ownership and start shifting the business to work for us.
I have created a 4-point plan how to start moving in the right direction.
First things first.
We need to limit the amount of negativity we feed ourselves. Thus, allow yourself only to be exposed to the news, negativity information to a maximum of an hour a day. Take the facts, see it for what it is and park it. Stop feeding your mind with negativity. Remember, what I whisper to myself echoes in my reality. Re-focus back to your capability and your pattern of success.
Secondly, we need to create a routine which will give us meaning in life. Happiness means nothing if it is not combined with action. Stick to your routine, achieve the small stuff and you will begin to feel meaningful and your self-worth will increase. As entrepreneurs, we can achieve a lot without being in front of the client. Start focusing on those nuggets, those reports, marketing material, new ideas we normally don’t have the time to do.
Thirdly, be creative. The moment we start exploring the different angles of doing what we do best, we start to grow. You might say, I don’t feel like being creative, I am creatively challenged. That is okay, stretch yourself 1% more than what you were yesterday, and before you know it the ideas will start flowing, you will start doing research and you will begin to seek opportunities.
And lastly, and definitely not the least create a happy space…(in my video, setting up for happiness, on my website, www.lizettevolkwyn.com I show you how)
Create a space in your home or garden where you can go to just to breathe and put everything into perspective. Close your eyes, start slowing down your breathing…begin to find yourself in a place where you were on top of the world, life happened and you know you can do this…you felt loved, in control and confident….linger for a moment in this space, embrace it and own it…now open your eyes and see how your demeanor has changed.
Use these four pointers to start improving the quality of your lockdown.
Life is not all doom and gloom, and whether we are facing financial challenges, production challenges or personal challenges, we all are in this together… TOGETHER we will conquer and celebrate our victory too.
